Electrical Vehicle Charging Station

Warm greetings to everyone, this team “Hokage” and I’m here to

explain you about our solution towards “EV charging station” 

PROBLEM STATEMENT:

  • Electrical vehicles are replacing normal vehicles day by day. But still, many countries lack the availability of Electric Vehicle charging stations. 
  • Especially in developing countries. Building an Electric Vehicle charging station is of high cost. Due to the energy deficit in India, most cities face power cut problems .
  • The emission of Carbon Dioxide in Electric Vehicles Could range from ~370gCO2e/KM if they are charged from the grid. 
  • Whereas conventional cars account for about 280  gCO2e/km. Thus, conventional vehicles powered solely by an Internal Combustion Engine called ICE cars, are better than Electric Vehicles in the developing countries having a lack of energy. 
  • Another Challenging part is the fast-charging infrastructure, the cost of Electric Vehicles being too high, there may be high probability of energy theft.

ABSTRACT

  • Gasoline causes the emission of house gasses which is harmful to living beings. 
  • In addition gasoline prices have been on the hike in recent days. 
  • Electric vehicles are a moderately ongoing innovation that is looking for its spot on the lookout. It has a few favorable circumstances.
  • Electric Vehicle charging has been so far considered unreliable and unpopular due to its unavailability of sufficient charging stations and the long charging time. 
  • Renewable energy resources such as solar energy can be very effective in providing faster and cost-effective electric vehicle charging. 
  • The proposed idea of this project is to build an electric charging station with a solar panel. 
  • Solar power is a smooth source of solar-based renewable electricity that may be used to supply power and warmth. 
  • This helps in reduction of gasoline consumption, which reduces the emission of greenhouse gasses and with the help of solar panels, the charging station is very efficient similar to other fuel filling stations once installed. 

OBJECTIVES

  • Our main objective is to make an efficient Electrical Vehicles charging Station which is reliable and available at a low cost.
  • To encourage the battery swap.
  • To reduce the emission of greenhouse gasses.
  • To reduce manpower and wastage in power supply 
  • To maintain the log of battery charging and swapping with the help of sensors.
  • Solar panels used in the charging stations are able to move towards the direction of sunlight.
  • To make sure there is no theft in the charging station . 

METHODOLOGY

  • Electrical Vehicles get power supply from solar energy to solar panels.
  • From the solar panel, the solar energy is converted into electricity
  • The Electricity will be converted from DC to AC and stored in a battery or it can be directly used.
  • The stored electrical energy is used to charge vehicles.
  • Payment transactions are done by QR code. 
  • once payments are completed the customer can charge the vehicle
  • The customer can do a battery swap which is already fully charged.
  • If the customer Chooses to do a battery swap he can take the battery and it should be replaced with his Electrical Vehicle battery. After the customer  replaced the empty battery it would start to charge the battery automatically. 
  • All processes can be done by a single machine. It is completely done by an automation process according to the requirement of the customer.

DESIGN SYSTEM

  • The system of charging the electrical vehicle using solar energy consists of a solar panel. photovoltaic cells in the solar panel absorb the sunlight.
  • It converts the sunlight into direct current
  • The MPPT charge controller is employed to drop down the voltage generated by the solar panel.
  • It drops the voltage to the voltage required to charge an Electrical vehicle without any losses.

WORKING PRINCIPLE

  • Solar panels get energy from the sun which is solar energy. Solar panels will move towards the sun to make sure the station will work more efficiently. 
  • A temperature controller is used to detect sunlight and helps to turn towards it. 
  • Once The Electrical vehicle stands in the charging position it will be charged automatically only if the customer chooses it. 
  • A Customer can change his battery by replacing a new battery from the station which is already charged fully, they can take the battery only when the user places their battery first. 
  • An infrared sensor is used to detect the Electric Vehicle and it will be helpful for the customer to park the vehicle in the right position. 
  • Once the Vehicle stands in the right position a Red light will be turned ON. 
  • After a successful charge, Greenlight will be turned ON. Everything will be displayed on a Touch screen(TFT screen). 
  • Once a customer replaces the battery, the empty battery will start to charge automatically which is monitored by a monitoring device. 
  • This monitored device works in the main battery also (solar to the battery). 
  • A speaker is also added to guide the customer. 
  • All these functions start to work only when the customer pays the bill with the help of the QR code.

ADVANTAGES

  • The emission of greenhouse gasses will be reduced
  • By using renewable energy the cost will be lowered
  • Manpower is drastically reduced
  • By battery swap, the time will be reduced eventually.
